Grey coverage, or a softer blend. You get to choose.
You leave covered and even, and within days the line at your parting is back. So you book again, and again, every three weeks, and it starts to feel like a battle you cannot win.
What you might have been told
That grey is just something you chase. That the only answer is back every three weeks to paint the root out. That once the grey comes in, you are tied to the chair for good and there is nothing to be done about how fast it shows.
Here’s what’s actually happening
Grey is not the same as the rest of your hair, so it does not behave the same. It is a different texture, often coarser and more resistant, which means it takes tone differently and lets it go first. That is why the grey is the part that reappears soonest. On top of that, the line only ever shows against a contrast. The bigger the gap between your colour and the grey underneath, the sharper the line reads, so a solid, all-over coverage shows its root faster and harder than a softer, broken-up blend. The root is not growing quicker than anyone else’s. It is that solid coverage draws a clean line, and grey sits right on it.
It’s no wonder you didn’t know
Nobody sat you down and told you grey behaves differently, or that the sharpness of that line is a choice and not a fixed fact. You were handed one option, chase the root every three weeks, and never shown the other. It is no wonder it felt like a losing battle. That was never yours to work out alone.
What this means for you
There are two honest routes, and they are yours to choose. Full coverage gives you an even, uniform result, the most complete cover, on a tighter rhythm because a solid line shows sooner. Grey blending weaves the grey in with soft, broken pieces so there is no hard line to grow out, which reads as a gentler, slower grow-out and buys you longer between visits. One is not better than the other. Full coverage is for her who wants it all gone and even. Blending is for her who wants the upkeep softer and the grow-out quieter. We read your grey, how much, where, how resistant, and name which route fits the result you want and the rhythm you can keep. Your colour is one part of it. Great hair is not one visit. The plan is what makes it last, and the plan is colour, cut, treatments and home care, all held on one rhythm.
